The locomotive was first owned by the Louise Lumber Co. in Hawkes, Mississippi, as Locomotive No. 2. In 1916, the same owners used it at the Poplarville Saw Mill Co. in Poplarville, Mississippi.
It was later owned by Lamb-Fish Lumber Co. in Charleston, Mississippi. Turner-Farber-Love Co. acquired it in 1923, and in 1928 it went to Santee River Hardwood Co. in St. Stephens, South Carolina, as No. 7.
From 1962 to 1974, it ran on the Maggie Valley Railroad, where it once again wore No. 2. It was later sold to the Whitewater Valley Railroad in Connersville, Indiana.
The Stephenson County Antique Engine Club purchased the locomotive in 1982 and stored it at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds until 1986. By then, the club had built the Silver Creek & Stephenson Railroad and the engine was back in service.
